Frank Lampard sings ‘Stop Crying Frank Lampard!’ after Derby beat Leeds

Derby County v West Bromwich Albion - Sky Bet Championship

Derby County defied the odds to reach the Championship play-off final at the expense of Leeds United on Wednesday night.

Frank Lampard’s side trailed 1-0 after Saturday’s first leg at Pride Park and were left with a mountain to climb after Leeds took the lead at Elland Road midway through the first half courtesy of Stuart Dallas.

However, goals either side of half-time from Jack Marriott and Mason Mount turned the tie on its head.

Harry Wilson made it 3-1 to Derby on the night from the penalty spot before Dallas levelled the aggregate score with his second goal.

However, Marriott also completed a brace, with five minutes left to play, ensuring that it will be Derby taking on Aston Villa on May 27 for a place in the Premier League.

Victory for Lampard must have tasted all the sweeter because it came against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The Premier League legend was furious with Bielsa following the ‘spygate’ saga earlier this season and, to add insult to injury, had lost on all three occasions he’d gone head-to-head against the revered Argentine coach this campaign.

Leeds fans, amused by Lampard’s outrage, created a chant mocking the Derby boss in the aftermath of the scandal.

Inspired by the Oasis song ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, the chant goes like this…

‘All of the spies

‘Are hidden away

‘Just try not to worry

‘You'll beat us some day

‘We beat you at home

‘We beat you away

‘Stop crying Frank Lampard!’

Pretty good, you have to admit.

Even Lampard is a fan, it turns out.

After denying Leeds the opportunity of a dream return to the top flight, Lampard was filmed belting out the ’Stop Crying Frank Lampard!’ in the away dressing room at Elland Road.

Superb!

Now that’s how you get revenge. That’s surely the last time Leeds fans ever sing that song.

Asked if the win was sweeter because it came against Leeds, Lampard told Sky Sports: "Maybe, maybe. I'm not gonna lie maybe it is.

"I heard a lot of people saying that we were crying about Spygate but I haven't thought about Spygate for a long time.

"We played them, we prepared, and we got a result."
