Remembering the advert Mike Tyson & Evander Holyfield starred in after 'Bite Fight'

Back in 2013, boxing legends Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield starred in a Foot Locker advert 16 years on from the ‘Bite Fight’.

The advert shows Tyson apologising for biting Holyfield’s ear, as well as returning the ‘piece’ back to him.

In June 1997, Iron Mike bit and tore out a piece of Holyfield's ear during a clinch, in what has now become an infamous fight. Holyfield would go on to win the bout and retain his WBA world heavyweight title after Tyson was disqualified.

The advert was filmed back in 2013 as part of Foot Locker’s ‘Week of Greatness’ campaign, which depicts what it would be like if ‘all was right with the world’.

It’s quite amusing to see the pair talking to each other in comedic fashion. There seems to be no animosity between them as they’ve been pictured at boxing events together in the past.

Tyson and Holyfield are widely regarded as two of the best heavyweights of all time and both held world titles on multiple occasions throughout their careers.

Holyfield retired from boxing in 2011 with a record of 44-10 (29 KOs). He beat the likes of George Foreman and Larry Holmes during his long and successful career.

Tyson, meanwhile, retired in 2005 with a record of 50-6 (44 KOs). He also beat Larry Holmes during his career.

Tyson is rumoured to be considering a return to the sport after uploading a video of him hitting the pads in stunning fashion via Instagram. Although it’s likely he would only return for an exhibition fight, the video has been viewed over 12 million times and has created excitement in the boxing community.

There have also been rumours of a potential third bout between Holyfield and Tyson, who are now both in their 50s, after the former posted a similar return to boxing via Instagram.

Holyfield captioned the post: "My first week back in the gym and I feel great. I’m looking forward to stepping up my training sessions… as I prepare for my fight."

A third bout between two of the biggest heavyweight legends would surely be a spectacle, even if it is just an exhibition fight.
