What a turbulent summer it has been for Newcastle United.
It started with a failed takeover attempt which rocked the supporters on Tyneside.
With a proposed £300million deal promising to make the club the richest in England, it was only natural that the fanbase would feel deflated when things fell through.
However there was no time for dwelling as the club looked to prepare for the new season ahead.
Free transfers for Mark Gillespie and Jeff Hendrick got the club off to a steady start in the market, before three deals in the space of 48 hours saw the club really signal their intentions for the season.
Those deals were for Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis, but it seems that the Magpies aren't finished yet.
Several players have already been linked with a move to St James' Park, and midfielders certainly seem to be an area that they're striving to improve.
However according to Duncan Castles, those reports are false with Steve Bruce's no longer in the hunt for the midfielder following their January interest.
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: "There’s been a report [last] week that Newcastle have offered a deal worth €35 million for Soumare, so they’ve [allegedly] come back in and tried at around the level they had agreed a fee with Lille for the player in January.
"I’m told that there has been no new offer from Newcastle in this window.
"However, Soumare is a strong possibility for AC Milan, who have been discussing a deal with Lille.”

While Newcastle United are clearly intent on strengthening their squad further, a move for Boubakary Soumare seems to be off.
As for the Magpies, they've also been in the hunt for having been close to securing a £35million deal in January this year.
But now it seems that their interest has moved on.
Soumare still looks likely to move on this summer, but according to Castles it may now be AC Milan that complete a move.
